The perfusionist is a skilled professional, qualified by academic and clinical education, who provides functions necessary for the support, treatment, measurement or supplementation of the cardiopulmonary and circulatory system of the patient. This professional operates extracorporeal circulation equipment during any medical situation where it is necessary to support or replace the patient's cardiopulmonary/circulatory function and ensures the proper management of physiologic functions by monitoring the necessary variables. Prepares and administers blood products and prescription solutions through bypass circuitry. Regularly participates in the on call schedule.
QualificationsMinimum Education and Experience Requirements
- Bachelors of Science in Perfusion, other Bachelors Degree or Masters Degree required
- Must obtain ABCP certification within 1 year of hire date
- Experience as a Perfusionist, in a student capacity or independent practitioner with a minimum of 3 letters of reference from cardiovascular surgeons, cardiovascular anesthesiologists, previous supervisor or academic references.
Licensure/Certification/Registration: Must obtain ABCP certification within 1 year of hire date.
Motor Vehicle Operator Designation: Employees in this position: Will not operate vehicles for an assigned business purpose
