Salary Range:$145,600.00 To 190,000.00 Annually
We are seeking an experienced Area Construction Manager to oversee large-scale, multi-million-dollar construction projects within our capital improvement program. This role demands a strong leader capable of driving project execution and ensuring top-quality outcomes in sectors such as facilities, roads, airfield runways and taxiways, and IT systems upgrades, among others. Educational Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, or Construction Management is required. Advanced degrees in these fields are advantageous.
Certification/Training:
- Professional engineering license or Certification from the Construction Management Association of America (CMAA) is preferred.
Experience:
- At least fifteen (15) years of management experience in construction, including the administration of large multi-million-dollar projects.
Core Responsibilities:
- Collaborate closely with the Area Director to plan and deliver construction projects, providing expert guidance and oversight throughout all phases.
- Manage the construction management staff, evaluating performance, and ensuring adherence to the highest standards of quality and efficiency.
- Oversee and support the construction management activities including safety, quality assurance, field inspection, testing, and project engineering to ensure quality execution.
- Facilitate the assignment and staffing of projects, ensuring compliance with approved task orders.
- Review and approve contractor progress payments and manage the construction change process to maintain project timelines and budgets.
- Develop and manage relationships with all project stakeholders, ensuring effective communication and problem resolution.
- Ensure compliance with all safety and quality regulations and standards.
Key Skills:
- Excellent oral and written communication skills for effective client presentations and technical reporting.
- Deep understanding of various construction delivery methods such as CM at-risk, design-build, and progressive design-build.
- Proficient in budget development, cost accounting, and financial management.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage and motivate a diverse team of construction professionals.
- Proficiency in construction contract negotiation and administration.
Reporting Structure:
- Administratively reports to the Director of Construction Management Support Services (CMSS).
- Operationally aligned to an Area Director.
- Supervises a team that may include Resident Engineers, Assistant Resident Engineers, Office Engineers, Project Engineers, and Field Inspectors.
