Job Description:
- The Quality Engineer is responsible to ensure the company's products and processes meet established quality standards by identifying shortfalls, developing corrective measures, and implementing quality control systems.
- The successful Quality Engineer should have excellent troubleshooting skills to ensure that processes and products consistently meet or exceed established quality standards.
Responsibilities include but not limited to:
- Perform root cause analysis of quality issues to analyze quality performance utilizing statistical, analytical and advance problem-solving tools
- Recommend and implement cost-effective permanent corrective actions
- Analyze quality data from internal and external indicators to ensure correlation
- Coordinate with Engineering, Manufacturing and Suppliers to resolve issues that are not plant controllable
- Manage engineering changes, working with cross-functional teams to ensure timely execution
- Conduct product evaluation requests to ensure robustness of product or process changes before full implementation
- Recommend and validate rework procedures
- Develop inspection procedures and best practices
Requirements:
- Must have a valid Driver's license, must be able to work ANY shift
- 2+ years practical experience in Automotive Engineering, Engineering Quality or Manufacturing Quality
- Prior application and use of problem-solving tools and statistics
- Strong proficiency in MS Office applications & G-Suite tools
- Effective presentation/public speaking skills
- Experienced with problem solving tools
- Demonstrated ability to coach and teach others
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to communicate details from executive level to plant staff level
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work off shift hours as necessary
- Self-motivated and directed
- Driving required: must have a valid driver's license and clean driving record.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Advanced degree
- Experience with BIW commodity
- Experience in the design, testing and assembly of assembly lines.
- Experience working in a union environment.
- Background in LEAN manufacturing principles or World Class Manufacturing (WCM) and problem-solving techniques
- Applicable work experience
Manufacturing General Physical Requirements:
- Work different shifts and/or work weekends, including overtime.
- Work in hot and/or cold environments
- Work around heavy equipment or manufacturing machinery
- Wear safety equipment such as safety glasses, sleeves, earplugs and steel-toed shoes
- Stand or walk for long periods of time each day
- Frequently bend, stoop, reach and lift up to 40 pounds
- Work in tight or closed in spaces
- Regularly climb ladder/man lift/stairs/crawl under vehicles if necessary
- Strong verbal communication skills
- Ability to work in a team environment
Education:
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial Engineering or applicable Technical Engineering Degree from an accredited university
