The American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) is currently seeking a Program Manager to join their newly created Innovations Cabinet. The Program Manager will serve as the primary support and facilitator for the Innovations Cabinet; a forum for employees to share, learn about, and pilot currently available technology and create pathways for business units to access breakthrough technology to solve business problems they face today.
Reporting to the Chair of the Innovations Cabinet, the Program Manager has the following primary responsibilities:
- Facilitating Idea Sharing: Encourage and facilitate open discussions where staff can share their ideas and questions regarding emerging technology and innovation. This may involve organizing regular meetings, brainstorming sessions, or workshops to gather insights from various departments and levels within the organization.
- Managing an Innovation Pipeline: Develop and maintain a structured process for systematically identifying and analyzing new technology solutions. This involves actively scouting for emerging technologies, assessing their potential relevance to the organization's needs, and prioritizing them based on their ability to address current business problems or pain points.
- Coordinating Pilot Implementations: Oversee the planning, execution, and evaluation of pilot implementations for promising technologies. This includes coordinating with cross-functional teams to define pilot objectives, establish success criteria, allocate resources, and manage timelines and deliverables.
- Gathering Feedback and Iterating: Collect feedback from stakeholders throughout the pilot implementation process and use it to refine and iterate on the technology solutions being tested. This may involve conducting surveys, interviews, or focus groups to gather qualitative insights, as well as analyzing quantitative data to measure key performance indicators and outcomes.
- Assessing Broader Applicability: Evaluate the broader applicability of successful pilot technologies to the organization as a whole. This involves analyzing scalability, integration with existing systems and processes, potential impact on workflows and employee productivity, and alignment with long-term strategic objectives.
- Knowledge Sharing and Training: Develop and deliver training programs and resources to help staff understand and adopt new technologies effectively. This includes creating user manuals, conducting training sessions, and providing ongoing support to ensure a smooth transition to new systems and processes.
- Staying Current with Technology Trends: Stay informed about the latest trends and developments in emerging technology and innovation relevant to the organization's industry and objectives. This may involve attending conferences, participating in industry forums, and networking with peers to stay ahead of the curve.
Requirements for this role include a Bachelor’s degree in Organizational Design, Project Management, and/or Management Principles. Equivalent years of relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of a degree. Additionally, the ideal candidate will have up to 5-7 years of work experience focused on group facilitation, including workshop development and delivery.
The successful candidate will be a self-starter and must be able to effectively communicate and engage with a diverse set of stakeholders throughout a collaborative, cross-departmental ideation process. Strong reasoning, analytical and research skills are required, as are excellent written and verbal communication skills.
An individual with demonstrated ability to work effectively and collaboratively across a matrix organization will flourish in this role. Experience creating and implementing RFPs or similarly structured vendor proposals is preferred, as is experience with continuous improvement projects.
