Position: Sr Network Engineer
Location: Remote (Onsite Quincy, MA on Wednesdays)
Duration: 6 months (potential to extend or convert perm)
The Sr Network Engineer will provide expertise and leadership in the design and implementation of the technology stack within Wireless Platforms. This individual will work in a fast-paced and challenging environment leveraging forward-thinking technical engineering expertise in the services area of the enterprise.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Will oversee the engineering, delivery and operations for network platforms which spans across all retail brands, corp offices, distribution centers, data centers and warerooms.
- Responsible for the technical delivery and management of MPLS, internet, SDWAN, VPN, Wireless, Data Center LAN, VoIP Telecommunications, Extranet, Azure Cloud Networking, Firewalls, Load Balancers, Cloud Proxy and DNS services across the enterprise.
- Will have responsibility for supporting the multi-year strategy to transform the network architecture, and all associated technologies and has overall responsibility for the delivery of all shared communication infrastructure, incident restoration, MSP and supplier management, and maintain secure connectivity and reliable application delivery for all brands.
- Ensures network infrastructure across retail locations, corporate offices and/or distribution centers can meet and exceed the performance and availability requirements set by the business.
- Oversee the operations, repairs, and improvement of all network platforms and will participate in day-to-day operations and troubleshooting efforts, working with external partners and internal customers.
- Will work closely with other network platform and product teams to create solid implementation and operations strategies.
- Will use broad knowledge of and experience in large scale networks and will bring a firm understanding of related disciplines and how they interoperate with network hardware and software devices and how to maintain technical alignment with all stakeholders for seamless network operations.
Required Qualifications:
- Experience in Network Engineering, or equivalent.
- 5 years of experience designing LAN/WAN/Wireless solutions for large enterprises.
- 5 years of experience with IP routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, RIP) in a large enterprise environment
- Experience with configuration of Cisco routing and Cisco and Aruba switching latest platforms and solutions - Cisco and Aruba product line.
- Experience with configuration of Cisco and Aruba wireless
- Solid understanding of wireless survey tools
- Proven knowledge of developing HLDs/LLDs
- Experience with creating and or updating technical design documentation used by engineering teams
- Experience with Microsoft Office and Visio Professional
- Bachelor’s degree in Computers or Electronics with 5+ Years of Networking Experience
Desired Qualifications:
- CCNA or CCNP/DP Certification preferred – Enterprise or Wireless
- Excellent documentation and verbal communication skills
- Must be self-driven and able to work with little supervision and direction
- Strong understanding of QoS configurations to support the WAN and enterprise standards.
- Strong experience in installing Cisco Routers/Switches in the field
- Strong understanding of the following routing protocols: OSPF, BGP, RIP, EIGRP
- Strong understanding of the following layer 2 switching protocols: Spanning Tree, Trunking, EtherChannel
- Strong understanding of the following: HSRP, DHCP Snooping, NAC, DSCP, NAT/SNAT, TCP/IP, Multicast, Ethernet
- Strong familiarity with the following WAN technologies: Carrier provided MPLS VPN connectivity, SD-WAN solutions deployed on DIA transport
- Strong understanding of DNS/domain services
- Strong LAN/WAN/Wireless troubleshooting methodology
- Python/Ansible/Terraform scripting experience a plus
- Experience and familiarity with Change control processes - Service Now.
- Solid hand-on experience on latest Cisco and Aruba platform - series of Routers/Switches/Wireless Controllers
