Managing Clerk - Hybrid
Beacon Hill Legal is searching for a Managing Clerk for a major law firm's Midtown Manhattan office. This is a hybrid role with a salary ranging up to $175,000.
This person should have at least 8 years of legal experience with 5 years of experience in a Managing Clerk's office. This person will come into a new role and must have excellent court communication experience (with a strong preference for close relations with court clerks).
Responsibilities:
- Oversee and manage all New York office case docketing, ensuring timely and accurate updates in the litigation docket system.
- Maintain and update the docketing system with deadlines, court appearances, and case details, ensuring attorneys are informed.
- Review and process incoming court documents and correspondence, ensuring timely docketing.
- Handle all aspects of e-filing, including preparation, submission, and confirmation.
- Provide guidance to attorneys and staff on e-filing procedures, troubleshooting any issues.
- Maintain and manage secure e-filing credentials for attorneys.
- Advise attorneys on state and federal court rules, ensuring regulatory compliance.
- Track case progress and deadlines, ensuring timely filings in courts and agencies.
- Manage attorney court renewals, including tracking deadlines and preparing documentation.
- Train staff on docket and e-filing procedures to ensure effective management.
- Liaise with court personnel to ensure smooth filing processes.
- Review and ensure quality control of other docketing staff's work.
Qualifications:
- 8+ years of legal experience; 5+ years experience in a Managing Clerk's office
- Strong knowledge of New York state and federal court rules, procedures, and e-filing.
- Experience with docketing and case management software, particularly CompuLaw.
