🏢 Location: Itasca, IL
💼 Position: Machinist/Tool and Die Maker
🕒 Schedule: 6 or 7 AM start (8-hour shift with break)
What You'll Do:
- Analyze specifications and perform bench and machine operations to construct, alter, and repair tools and dies
- Study blueprints and plan sequences for fabricating tools, dies, or assemblies
- Operate conventional and CNC machine tools (lathes, milling machines, grinders)
- Conduct test runs and adjust tools or dies to meet specifications
- Collaborate with Production and Engineering to optimize die setup and reduce production floor setup time
Qualifications:
- High school degree with 5+ years of experience as a machinist/toolmaker OR apprenticeship certificate/diploma
- Expertise in stamping and stamping die operations (crucial)
- Proficiency with CNC mill, CNC lathe or manual milling, manual grinding, and manual lathe
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings
- Experience in die assembly
- Background in automotive, aerospace, or electronics industries preferred
Skills & Competencies:
- Proficient in operating all tool room equipment (Wire EDM a plus)
- Strong troubleshooting skills for dies and equipment
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-task environment
- Familiarity with SOPs, work instructions, and OSHA standards
- Precision measurement and quality control data collection skills
