Established Chicago-based Intellectual Property law firm specializing in trademark and copyright enforcement and anti-counterfeit litigation is seeking to hire litigation associates to join our team. This position will primarily handle litigation in federal court, including pleading preparation, evidence review, motion practice, discovery, settlement negotiations, and hearings (at the Dirksen Courthouse and via telephone), and various other legal tasks as required. Successful candidates should have 1-5 years of IP litigation experience and strong communication and analytical skills. Current IL bar membership in good standing required.
To be successful in this role, you will need to be proficient with Microsoft Office applications such as Outlook, Word, and Excel.
Responsibilities/Tasks:
- Handle litigation of trademark and copyright infringement matters
- Responsible for attending hearings and making oral arguments to the court
- Perform duties and responsibilities as directed by partners
- Manage subpoena preparation, delivery and discovery responses
- Oversee admin team in daily tasks related to case management
- Conduct settlement negotiations and counter challenges effectively
- Update internal case management spreadsheets and software, as necessary
- Prioritize and manage multiple assignments under strict timelines
- Ability to work independently, while maintaining constant, clear, and daily communication with peers and supervisors
Proficiencies & Requirements
- Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Familiarity with legal pleadings and the ECF filing system
- Ability to work remotely (i.e. home computer and secure internet access)
- Computer/technical knowledge as well as strong analytical, communication, organizational skills
Experience / Qualifications
- 1-5 years intellectual property litigation experience
- Illinois bar membership
- Bar Admission to NDIL (or willingness to become admitted)
