Job Description
The Junior Operations Analyst is situated within our Investment Operations team where we focus on supporting all operational and accounting aspects of a complex portfolio encompassing both direct trading and alternative investment (“Alts”) strategies. This Junior Analyst will specialize in our Alts portfolio and play a critical role in supporting our core operational processes. These surround Alts’ investment reporting, data management technologies, treasury and capital activity, data validation and analysis, and administrator oversight. They will contribute towards team-wide goals of improving efficiencies and data capture through technology initiatives, process automation, and system/workflow optimization. This team member will collaborate with external stakeholders and across the firm’s investment, accounting, reporting/performance analytics, technology, and client teams throughout investment and product lifecycles. The Junior Analyst’s specific responsibilities include:
Process daily investment reporting, pricing, and capital activity for our client’s Alts portfolio.
Oversee AI-based document collection and data extraction technology; validate downstream impact to data warehouse, research management system (RMS), and accounting software.
Research and resolve transaction, profit and loss, and valuation reconciliations between internal records, investment reporting, third party administrator, banks, and other counterparties.
Coordinate with third-party administrator during periodic accounting closes to validate performance, capital activity, and other investment metrics included in our investor reporting and internal analytics.
Produce and deliver internal and external reports such as investment exposures, Hedge Fund performance attribution analysis, funds’ performance, and ad-hoc requests related to our Alts.
Participate in operational workflows related to deal closing and execution, investment profiling, fulfillment of legal amendments, and ah-hoc communications with our external investment partners.
Contribute towards projects including RMS conversion, technology optimization, investment data collection, workflow automation, and more.
Qualifications:
The Ops team is seeking a team member with 1-3 years of prior experience who has a passion for our industry and desire to grow within investment operations. Applicants are required to have a bachelor’s degree (preferably in Accounting/Finance/Business Admin), excellent communication skills, technical fundamentals, and a keen attention to detail. A strong candidate is a self-starter yet team-oriented professional who actively seeks opportunities for growth, creatively solves problems, and has a demonstrated aptitude to thrive in a fast-paced environment. Candidates will set themselves apart from peers by having experience in Alts with exposure to Advent Geneva, Bipsync, Canoe Intelligence, SQL, Power Query, Spotfire, and PowerBI software.
