Job Description:
Our client, a storied and top-ranked full-service intellectual property boutique firm, seeks an attorney with at least two years’ patent prosecution experience to join it in Manhattan. The successful candidate will work closely with partners to service clients involved a broad range of life science technologies, including antibodies, vaccines, small molecule pharmaceuticals, biomaterials, and medical devices.
The base annual salary for this role is $115k to $150K, depending upon experience.
Responsibilities:
- prepare and prosecute domestic and foreign patent applications;
- support the development of strategies aligned with client’s business objectives to facilitate action from product inception through commercialization and planning;
- support with patentability assessments; and
- assist in management of patent portfolios including IP portfolio evaluation and valuations.
Required Qualifications:
- two or more years’ experience preparing and prosecuting patent applications and counseling clients;
- USPTO registration (or eligibility to take and pass the USPTO registration exam);
- prior law firm or industry experience strongly preferred, with experience as a USPTO examiner a plus;
- strong science background – with Ph.D. or graduate coursework in organic chemistry, molecular biology, biochemistry, or a related field strongly preferred, but not mandatory;
- strong research, oral, and written communication skills;
- ability to manage multiple projects concurrently and be mindful of tight deadlines;
- strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective client interactions.
