Opportunity Description
The Biomedical Equipment Technician II is responsible for the intermediate-level experience in the planning, integration, repair, calibration, and maintenance of basic to complex biomedical equipment and instrumentation, and the associated support systems used in healthcare delivery, working under general supervision.
To be effective in the position the employee will be able to express ideas clearly and professionally both orally and in writing. The interpersonal skills necessary for the position include effective communication with a wide variety of internal and external customers which foster a positive impression of the company. The position does require on-call duties which will require occasional weekend and off-hours work. There are travel requirements for the position which include support of several offsite facilities. Job Duties
- Performing routine repair and maintenance on a variety of medical equipment on site and satellite facilities.
- Works from drawings, technical manuals, and other specifications to troubleshoot and repair medical and related equipment.
- Troubleshoots equipment in a logical sequence which results in the proper identification and correction of malfunctions in a timely manner. Performing post-repair testing to confirm equipment function.
- Inspecting, testing, and calibrating equipment. Perform first look service on nurse call system, security, televisions, and other Value-Added services as required.
- Assisting with equipment inventory verification Responsible for keeping an accurate inventory of equipment and associated modules/probes, parts, test equipment and tools needed for proper maintenance for the fleet of equipment.
- Preparing timely and complete documentation. Perform “first look” on value-added services such as nurse call systems, security systems, televisions, etc. as needed.
- Following client and NovaMed policies & procedures. Complying with standard protocols, regulatory standards & codes.
- Other related duties as assigned.
Education
A.S. Degree - Electronics, Biomedical, or related - OR equivalent military training.
Experience & Skills Required
- Knowledge of electronic principles and devices.
- Basic computer proficiency (data entry & word processing).
- Basic knowledge of anatomy, physiology, medical terminology.
- Prior satisfactory customer service experience.
- Good written & oral communications skills.
- History of attention to detail and good time management.
Requirements:
- Basic proficiency in PC software (MS Word, Excel preferred).
- Good manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination to work with small parts, tools.
- Vision rated as normal for close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, ability to change focus.
- Ability to reach, climb, balance, kneel, stoop, crouch, crawl, etc. to service medical equipment.
- Hearing within 80-100% of the normal range (hearing aid acceptable to attain required range).
- Able to lift, and move 35 - 40 lb.
- Potentially limited exposure to hazardous physical, chemical, and/or biological agents.
- Able to provide documentation of current authorization to work in the United States.
