What You’ll Do:
Maintain Product Awareness. Communicate critical quality and production issues to the Area Technical Services Manager (ATSM). Maintain constant awareness of the status of all products and inventories in the area. Develop workable solutions for the plant and product issues. Understand plant flow and the different plant processes of all operations in the area.
Implement Business Plans. Assist in the implementation and maintenance of the area’s business unit plans and strategic QC/QA initiatives.
Sample. Supervise, coordinate and/or perform all plant input/output sampling, testing, and data interpretation to improve plant optimization and efficiencies for the area of responsibility.
Work with Managers. Work closely with the ATSM, Operations Manager, and Plant Managers on current and future mining plans and plant changes that may affect quality ratings and gradation control.
Resolve Customer Issues. Assist the Aggregate Customer Services Manager and the ATSM in investigating, resolving, and documenting all customer complaints.
Train. Assist the Technical Services Department in training in areas such as sampling, testing, correct handling of aggregates, and utilization of Technical Services computer program. Troubleshoot, educate and supervise staff.
Additional Responsibilities. Other duties as assigned.
Skills You’ll Need:
Experience. With a college degree, must have a minimum of 2 years of experience in engineering, mining, geology, or related fields. Without a college degree, must have a minimum of 5 years of experience. Must have the ability to obtain state certification(s) within one year of employment.
Communication Skills. Must possess excellent oral communication skills. Must possess strong written communication skills to develop communication regarding technical matters, including writing test procedures.
Time Management Skills. Must have the ability to work in a very stressful, deadline-oriented environment that requires complex, technical information and decision making. Must be able to present information in a clear and concise manner.
Technology Skills. Must be able to use the telephone, fax machines, lab equipment, computers, cell phones, and other electronic devices. Must be able to operate motorized vehicles.
Product Knowledge. Must possess a high degree of product knowledge and end-use applications. Must have an understanding of VMC quality information systems. Must understand and be familiar with mix design characteristics and various product specifications.
Operational Knowledge. Must have the ability to perform all QC Tech duties. Must possess a working knowledge of aggregate, asphalt, and ready mix concrete plant operations. Must possess extensive knowledge of ASTM, DOT, and AASHTO testing procedures. Must be knowledgeable in product-related specifications and finished products.
Regulatory Knowledge. Must be able to understand, interpret, and apply policies and procedures. Must display knowledge and understanding of OSHA and MSHA rules and regulations.
Interpersonal Skills. Must possess strong verbal communication skills for dealing with plant production personnel, plant managers, contractors, and agency representatives.
Driving Skills. Must have a current, valid driver’s license.

Salary. the base salary range for this role is between $90,000 to $110,000 annual salary. This range is not inclusive of our discretionary bonus or equity package. When determining a candidate’s compensation, we consider a number of factors, including skillset, experience, job scope, and current market data.
