Diesel Truck Mechanic will be responsible for a variety of tasks; including diagnostics, service repairs and preventative maintenance associated with maintaining a working fleet that meets DOT requirements. The successful candidate will be self-motivated and proficient in diagnosing and troubleshooting mechanical issues, as well as execute the repairs. Primary Duties and Responsibilities of the Diesel Truck Mechanic:
· Utilize vehicle computer electronics systems to interpret failure modes to initiate repairs
· Collaborate with drivers to troubleshoot faulty equipment
· Use technical knowledge to repair company vehicles properly and cost efficiently
· Perform preventive maintenance inspection (PMI), troubleshoot, repair, and rebuild major components on vehicles and equipment including; engine repair and chassis maintenance
· Work independently on equipment that requires a high level of skill with hydraulics, electrical, and diagnostics
· Proficient in diagnosing and troubleshooting mechanical issues
· Estimate time and material costs on repairs and requisitions new parts
· Respond to unscheduled service calls quickly and complete repairs efficiently
· Maintain knowledge on existing equipment, as well as reading and understanding equipment manuals
Knowledge and Skill Requirements of Diesel Truck Mechanic:
· 3+ years of working on diesel trucks
· Mechanical and electrical knowledge
· Welding experience desired, but not required
· Ability to multitask & juggle priorities
· Problem-solving, analytical and critical thinking skills
· Excellent communication skills
· Strong work ethic with a positive attitude
· Valid driver’s license
