Location: Houston, TX (4 days a week in person)
As a Senior Distribution Engineering Manager/Director, you can expect to:
- Provide high-level technical oversight, direction, and support for distribution project teams.
- Act as the primary stakeholder manager and client point of contact for project-related issues, ensuring effective communication and collaboration.
- Collaborate with other senior managers on broad client issues, including schedule adherence, resource allocation, and team quality control.
- Oversee and manage significant capital, reliability, and customer projects, including reconductors, voltage conversions, load swaps, circuit rebuilds, DOT relocations, DG integrations, and large customer development feeds (OH & UG).
- Lead client and internal team collaboration, managing resource allocation and project timelines to meet clients' demands.
- Track and manage project scope, schedule, and budget, providing leadership in project execution and ensuring on-time delivery.
- Oversee QA/QC for your design team, ensuring adherence to client construction standards and regulatory compliance.
- Monitor team performance and financial metrics, providing regular reports and insights to leadership.
- Report directly to the Director of Engineering
What Sets You Apart (Required Qualifications):
- Bachelor's Degree in an engineering discipline (Electrical or Mechanical preferred) from an ABET-accredited institution.
- Professional Engineer (PE) License required.
- 15-20 years of relevant experience, including extensive work with electric utilities or electric utility consulting companies, with a focus on electric distribution design engineering.
- Demonstrated experience leading engineering teams and managing stakeholder relationships at a senior level.
- In-depth knowledge of the National Electric Safety Code (NESC) and proficiency in interpreting client construction standards.
- Strong project management experience, including initiating, planning, executing, monitoring & controlling, and closing out projects.
- Exceptional written and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to manage diverse teams across geographic locations.
- Proven ability to work independently, provide leadership, and foster collaboration within teams.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with software such as PoleForeman, Bentley OpenUtilities Designer, GE Smallworld, Maximo, or similar.
- Extensive experience managing complex distribution design projects, including medium voltage switchgear, voltage conversion, and distribution automation projects.
- Familiarity with the development of civil & electrical packages for complex cable/conduit installations in dense urban environments.
- PMP certification or similar project management credentials.
