Position Summary: Manage a portfolio of projects within the scope, including project assignment, oversight, adherence to timelines, client communication, and performing laboratory duties as needed.
Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities:
Program Management:
- Plan and manage project timelines to ensure on-time delivery of project milestones.
- Conduct performance reviews and evaluations of assigned staff.
- Collaborate with sales, marketing, and management to develop strategic initiatives.
- Oversee project capacity, scope, and budget.
- Partner with Sales to define project scope and review proposals for new work.
- Plan and allocate project resources effectively.
- Lead method validation and development on analytical equipment; create new methods as needed to support projects.
- Implement and maintain best practices for internal and external interactions with staff and colleagues.
- Supervise, coach, mentor, and motivate assigned staff.
Staff Training & Development:
- Develop and implement training materials for both new and existing staff, covering sample preparation, analysis, interpretation, and instrument qualifications.
- Training methods may include presentations, hands-on training, practice samples, proficiency tests, and written competency evaluations.
- Oversee the training of new hires, including day-to-day management of their schedules until training is completed.
- Conduct or coordinate technical reviews of new staff to assess the effectiveness of their training and identify any gaps.
- Participate in the interview process for new hires.
Financial & Operational Oversight:
- Prepare financial summaries for the department, including monthly revenue, labor utilization, and annual ROI of services.
Communication Requirements:
- Act as the customer champion, ensuring clear and effective communication with clients.
- Communicate project timelines and resource needs to Management and Quality teams.
- Provide regular status updates on project milestones, deliverables, dependencies, risks, and issues, keeping leadership informed.
- Monitor, track, and manage outcomes to resolve issues, conflicts, dependencies, and critical deliverables.
- Keep management informed on pending programs.
- Attend conferences to support programs and sales initiatives as needed.
Meeting Requirements:
- Organize initial project meetings with new clients as required.
- Lead project closeout meetings with clients as necessary.
- Support customer teleconferences and prepare meeting minutes when needed.
- Participate in client visits alongside Sales, as required.
- Attend the following meetings:
- Management update meetings
- Revenue meetings as needed
- Client and regulatory audits
- Management Committee meetings
Quality:
- Report Out of Specifications (OOS) results to clients within two business days, unless otherwise specified in the Quality Agreement.
- Complete required quality documentation within requested time frames.
Lab Requirements:
- Ensure study protocols, test methods, and reports are delivered within project timelines.
- Assist in troubleshooting lab-related issues.
- Perform lab work as needed to ensure project completion.
- Conduct technical reviews of projects when necessary.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Education: BA/BS degree in a natural science (required).
- Experience: Preferred five (5) years of experience as a scientist in the field of Pharmaceutical Sciences.
