Gas Measurement Engineer
Contract Duration: Until 10/01/2025 (High likelihood of extension)
Location: Jackson, MI (Hybrid - 3 days onsite, 2 days remote or field work)
Role Overview:
We are seeking a Project Engineer specializing in Gas Measurement to join our Measurement, Regulation, and Controls (MR&C) group. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring accurate gas measurement designs and systems for pipeline facilities, focusing on the installation, troubleshooting, and configuration of gas metering equipment.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in gas measurement engineering with specific experience in gas metering systems, diagnostics, and troubleshooting. They should be comfortable managing multiple capital projects and collaborating with various internal departments to ensure compliance and accurate gas measurement solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Act as the lead project engineer for capital projects involving gas measurement, ensuring accurate design and integration of metering systems in gas facilities.
- Provide expertise in gas measurement equipment such as Ultrasonic meters, Coriolis meters, Orifice meters, Gas Chromatographs, and analyzers (H₂O, H₂S, O₂, CO₂, Hydrocarbon Dew Point).
- Support the installation, configuration, diagnostics, and troubleshooting of gas measurement devices in alignment with project requirements.
- Collaborate with internal teams, including Pipeline Engineering, Operations, Project Management, and Gas Control, to execute projects efficiently.
- Design and develop transfer meter stations, including layout and equipment integration for gas measurement systems.
- Conduct field visits to scope job requirements for modifications, upgrades, and system evaluations, working closely with field leaders throughout the design and implementation process.
- Manage multiple projects in various phases, ensuring compliance with industry standards, gas safety codes, and accurate metering systems.
- Develop and implement new standards and specifications for gas measurement and metering systems, ensuring regulatory compliance and system efficiency.
Required Skills & Experience:
- 2+ years of experience in gas measurement engineering, with hands-on knowledge of metering systems, equipment sizing, and gas analysis.
- Expertise in gas measurement equipment (e.g., Ultrasonic meters, Chromatographs) and piping systems used in gas transmission and pipeline facilities.
- Familiarity with Gas Calc and Flow Cal measurement software for accurate design and performance analysis.
- Solid understanding of gas codes and regulations, particularly the Michigan Gas Safety Code and metering standards.
- Ability to work closely with CAD designers to guide the layout and design of gas measurement facilities (direct CAD experience not required).
- Strong project management skills to handle multiple projects at different stages, ensuring timely and accurate execution.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with experience coordinating between technical teams, field staff, and management.
