Job Summary: We are seeking a skilled Manufacturing Engineer with expertise in welding and investment casting to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for developing, improving, and managing manufacturing processes to ensure product quality, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness. The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical background in welding and casting techniques, problem-solving abilities, and a passion for optimizing production.
Key Responsibilities:
- Process Development: Design, implement, and optimize manufacturing processes for welding and investment casting operations, ensuring adherence to industry standards and company quality specifications.
- Technical Expertise: Serve as the subject matter expert for welding methods (MIG, TIG, etc.) and investment casting processes, including mold design, wax pattern creation, shell building, and metal pouring.
- Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvements, including reducing waste, increasing productivity, and improving product quality, through Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies.
- Quality Control: Collaborate with quality assurance teams to develop inspection criteria and ensure compliance with specifications, conducting root-cause analysis for any defects or deviations.
- Tooling and Equipment: Recommend and manage the maintenance of welding and casting equipment, tooling, and fixtures to ensure optimal performance and longevity.
- Project Management: Lead or contribute to cross-functional teams in the planning and execution of new product introductions (NPI), process validations, and cost reduction initiatives.
- Training & Support: Provide technical support and training to production teams, ensuring proper use of equipment and compliance with safety standards.
- Documentation: Create and maintain detailed process documentation, including work instructions, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and process flow diagrams.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment with a focus on welding and investment casting processes.
- Proficiency in welding techniques (MIG, TIG, and other welding processes) and investment casting methodologies.
- Knowledge of metallurgy, heat treatment, and non-destructive testing (NDT) methods.
- Experience with CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD) for tooling and fixture design.
- Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing principles and continuous improvement strategies.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a hands-on approach to troubleshooting and process optimization.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Knowledge of industry standards such as ISO 9001 or AS9100 is a plus.
