What We’re Looking For:
As a Director /Manager of Packaging Design, you’ll be responsible for the design and development of key luxury packaging projects for Sugarfina. You will work closely with the Senior Director of Marketing, the AVP of Product Development, and the CEO, having a significant impact on the presentation of our brand. You will work collaboratively with the Senior Director of Marketing in creating and designing Sugarfina’s primary seasonal collections (e.g. Holiday, Valentine’s Day, Halloween, and Lunar New Year) as well as select, new collaborations. Together you will design and illustrate our brand vision across a collection of premium “rigid packaging” that contains our luxury candies from around the world in packaging that is instantly giftable.
Responsibilities:
- Conceptualize quickly & efficiently to develop product packaging designs for brand launches
- Lead design efforts on multiple collections, and projects with various timelines simultaneously
- Illustrate on-brand assets to be used on packaging (e.g. patterns, characters, and scenes)
- Create packaging renderings of products for Innovation team leadership concept review, product development, and selling materials
- Research packaging and product trends to deliver best-in-class, customer-centric packaging design solutions
- Lead the packaging design team, delegating as appropriate and providing clear direction
- Lead creative initiatives from concept to completion as assigned by the Senior Director of Marketing
- Execute a range of options for testing themes and positioning
- Prepare and route packaging production files for print
- Aid sourcing team with vendor communication to execute packaging production including reviewing proofs and giving feedback on samples
- Lead other print and brand collateral needs
Education & Skills:
- 5+ years of packaging design experience, preferably with a luxury brand
- Experience with a luxury / premium CPG is a must
- Fluent in Adobe Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, etc.)
- Extensive knowledge of both digital and print production, product packaging and product development
- Demonstrate strong leadership qualities
- Possesses self-motivated creativity and strategic thinking in a fast-paced environment
- Portfolio with professional luxury packaging design work
- Deep understanding of packaging structure, packaging style guides, off-set printing
- Strong understanding of graphic design, layout, color and typography, and illustration skills
- Strong project management skills with the ability to meet strict deadlines and work well under pressure
- A sense of humor is a plus
