Short Term Contract Opportunity - Must be located in Minneapolis, MN
As a Data Center Installer, you will be responsible for supporting the installation and maintenance of data center infrastructure, ensuring the highest levels of performance and compliance. This role requires hands-on experience with cable management, hardware installation, and infrastructure troubleshooting. You will work alongside a team of skilled installers and technicians to deliver high-quality services for data center build-outs, upgrades, and relocations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Install Structured Cabling Systems: Perform installation, termination, testing, and labeling of copper and fiber optic cables, including Cat6, Cat6a, and multi-mode/single-mode fiber optics.
- Hardware Installation: Rack and stack servers, routers, switches, and other data center equipment.
- Troubleshooting: Identify and resolve issues related to connectivity, hardware malfunctions, and cable pathways.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate documentation of installations and network configurations.
- Adherence to Standards: Ensure installations comply with industry standards (BICSI, TIA/EIA) and best practices.
- Team Coordination: Collaborate with project managers and lead installers to meet project deadlines and customer specifications.
- Quality Control: Perform quality assurance checks and testing of installed systems.
Required Skills and Experience:
- Minimum of 2-3 years of experience as a Data Center Installer or in a related field.
- Proficiency in cable management, including installation, termination, and testing of Cat6/Cat6a and fiber cables.
- Familiarity with server rack installation, ladder racks, and pathway systems.
- Experience with cable testing equipment (e.g., Fluke testers) and troubleshooting tools.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and network diagrams.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to workmanship quality.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in a physically demanding environment.
Certifications (Preferred):
- BICSI Installer Certification
- OSHA 10 or 30
- Manufacturer-specific certifications (e.g., Corning, Panduit)
