Industry Leading Chemical Manufacturer Looking for Growing EHS Professional
Position Available: EHSQ Specialist
Location: San Diego, CA Metropolitan Area
Are you passionate about creating a safe and environmentally responsible workplace? We are seeking an EHSQ Specialist to join our team and support our San Diego, CA plant in achieving its EHSQ goals. This role is crucial for maintaining safety, compliance, and quality standards, ensuring a secure environment for both our employees and the community.
Key Responsibilities:
- Foster a proactive safety culture and ensure compliance with regulations through developing procedures, conducting audits, and managing documents. Serve as the main liaison with local regulators for site safety and environmental compliance, including timely completion of all site and regulatory reporting.
- Oversee and deliver employee training on health, safety, and environmental issues, maintaining accurate training records. Address safety concerns promptly and evaluate new products, materials, and processes for effective hazard communication and safety procedures.
- Coordinate incident analysis, follow up on action plans to prevent recurrences, and manage document control according to ISO/Corporate standards using SharePoint. Stay current with corporate EHSQ standards, implementing improvements and training staff on changes.
- Manage the emergency response program and medical monitoring initiatives in line with corporate guidelines and the plant's Integrated Contingency Plan. Develop and supervise the execution of site Industrial Hygiene protocols, including the personal protective equipment program.
- Lead the plant’s waste minimization and Behavioral Safety Programs, focusing on sustainable practices and positive reinforcement. Collaborate with production teams to enhance health, safety, environmental, and quality processes, and perform hands-on laboratory work as needed.
What We’re Looking For:
- Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Environmental Science, H&S Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience in a chemical/manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and California regulations is a plus.
- Ability to conduct lab bench work.
- CAL-OSHA familiarity
- California EPA requirement familiarity
- 2+ years of EHS experience within a manufacturing environment
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with experience writing and reviewing procedures.
- Proven ability to manage time effectively and prioritize multiple tasks.
- Proficiency with MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and SAP.
