Our work environment is in the heart of the Lowcountry of South Carolina. We practice and observe animals living in a natural setting surrounded by mature pine, live oaks and a landscape filled with history. The veterinarian role:
The veterinarian is responsible for overseeing and performing veterinary procedures that support the primary health care program as well as our study program.
What you’ll do here:
Collaborate with other veterinarians in the diagnosis, treatment and follow-up of sick animals. You will not be bored, monkeys are incredibly engaging and rewarding patients!
Perform procedures, training, contribute knowledge and experience to encourage each other and practice with confidence and support
Receive mentorship and support from nonhuman primate veterinary and behavioral expert colleagues
Educate, train, lead and inspire colleagues in advancing colony and research animal healthcare
Maintain a work-life balance that adds to an environment of cooperation and trust with our focus on animal welfare extending to each other as well
How we do this:
Veterinarians are present Monday-Friday, ~6:00-2:30pm with flexible scheduling, family life matters and our vets lead our team with this culture of understanding
AGI provides full family medical benefits, eight paid holidays, generous vacation and sick leave
We share on call during weekends and holidays to provide continuous, collaborative coverage
AGI invests in you through hours of training provided by company experts, as well as financially supporting and encouraging attendance of continuing education, conference and training opportunities
We believe in strong mentorship when it comes to learning primate medicine. We understand refreshing your career and changing focus will require time and learning. You will be able to shadow Clinical Vets and take time to become independent.
Licensure and professional memberships are reimbursed so we can stay connected with our industry peers and stay smart
It is easy to practice our best medicine with support from our dedicated, onsite laboratory giving fast diagnostic testing results and having whatever medical equipment we require to provide the best care for our patients-our care is not limited by fiscal constraints. We have digital radiograph and ultrasound on-site and available whenever we want to use it.
How you’re qualified for this job:
- DVM/VMD from accredited institution; ECFVG certification required for foreign veterinary graduates
- Licensure or ability to obtain licensure (within 6 months) to practice veterinary medicine in South Carolina
- Ability to obtain DEA licensure
- Interest to become knowledgeable of the Animal Welfare Act, the Guide for the Care and Use of Laboratory Animals and other related references that are the heart of our operations and the foundation of our SOPs
- Be unflappable and determined to enjoy your day

Compensation:
$180,000 annually, increases with experience and certifications
$10,000 one year anniversary bonus, AGI seeks long-term relationships with employees
