Job Description:
We are seeking a self-motivated and energetic applicant to apply for a Designer position in Southern California. The applicant will join the the team responsible for designing industrial site development, pipeline improvement, renewable energy systems, and oil and gas facility projects. The ideal candidate will have a degree in Civil Engineering and experience in the design and construction of civil engineering projects with a strong working knowledge in Civil 3D grading and drainage design. The successful candidate will be able to work independently and collaboratively and be able to communicate effectively with clients, contractors, and other stakeholders.
- Responsibilities: Assists with the design and construction of civil engineering projects such as facility site development, drainage improvements, roads, accessways, and structural foundations.
- Analyze survey reports, maps, drawings, blueprints, aerial photography, and other topographical or geologic data to plan projects.
- Ability to manage, import, and create 3D surfaces from ariel and topographic site survey data in Autocad Civil 3D.
- Project planning and design with an emphasis in hydraulic and hydrology design.
- Preparation engineering drawings, reports, proposals, and other written assignments.
- Compute engineering calculations such as surcharge load and grade requirements, hydrology flow parameters, and pipeline hydraulics, to determine design specifications.
- Assist with construction and maintenance activities at the project site.
- Manage relatively small projects.
- Assist Senior Project Engineers, Project Managers, and Principals in the delivery of larger projects.
- Prepare or direct the preparation and modification of reports, specifications, plans, environmental and building permit applications, construction schedules, environmental impact studies, and designs for project.
- Direct draftspersons and technicians to convert designs to working drawings.
- General knowledge of the use of earthwork design, site drainage, and grading site development.
- Ability to visit local project sites for data gathering and construction support with occasional travel to client facilities.
- Experience and Education Requirements: Bachelor's Degree (or higher) in Civil Engineering
- 2-5 years related experience
