Job Overview
The Legislative Data Processing Center (LDPC) provides bi-partisan operational and technical support for the Pennsylvania General Assembly. LDPC is seeking candidates for the Jr. System Administrator role, with primary responsibilities in VMware, Active Directory, and Office 365 administration. Interested individuals should possess excellent technical skills and the ability to provide exceptional customer service to our clients.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Responsible for monitoring and ensuring security through patch management. Perform enterprise-wide server and desktop systems patching for OS and standard applications.
- Deploy, maintain, and configure Windows servers 2022 in both a physical and virtual environment.
- Install, configure and manage VMware vSphere and VCenter, and ESXi Host Environments. (VMware 7.x). Perform VMware diagnostic, troubleshooting and performance tuning.
- Manage Microsoft Active Directory, including user accounts and group policy.
- Administrate, secure, and support Microsoft Exchange, both on-premises and in Office 365.
- Administration of O365 tenant, including Teams, OneDrive, and enterprise security elements including Azure Information Protection.
- Schedule, monitor, and verify enterprise level backup and recovery operations using Veeam.
- Assist in administration of Windows 11 desktops, including software installations, troubleshooting, maintaining security patches, and deploying new equipment as needed.
- Use ConnectWise RMM to remotely manage deployments of desktop systems, and assist in proactive troubleshooting.
- Responsible for maintaining technical documentation.
- Assist in execution of business continuity planning, including preparation and execution of regular Disaster Recovery exercises.
- Additional work duties may be assigned as needed.
- Share in providing off hour support as needed.
Required Skills
- Demonstrated experience with Desktop Support and Helpdesk, assisting clients with hardware and software issues, including patch management of Servers.
- Experience managing Office 365, including user and group management.
- Experience with user and group management in Microsoft Active Directory
- A pro-active mind-set with a focus on constant improvement and follow through at all levels.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Excellent written and verbal communication.
- Self-motivated, task-driven, and able to quickly learn new skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to write documentation.
- Willing to work on weekends and/or evening hours as needed.
Preferred Skills
- Familiarity with managing VMware environments, or working with hyper-converged infrastructure, specifically VxRail.
- Experience managing a Microsoft Domain, Windows Servers, Exchange, and other mission critical enterprise level systems.
- Microsoft MCSA server certification is preferred.
- Experience with Azure Active Directory, including Identity Management, MFA, and AD Connect.
- Experience with Microsoft’s tiered security model for “Active Directory hardening”, including Privileged Access Workstations (PAW).
- Experience with advanced Active Directory management, including Group Policy and Security Baselines, Domain and Forest Trusts, and Authentication including Kerberos, NTLM, and PKI.
- Experience managing cloud-based environments and services (AWS or Azure).
Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree in Information Systems or a related field preferred but not required. At least three years related experience, or equivalent combination of industry certifications and experience.
Working Conditions/Environment
Expected to report to the office during normal business hours (8:30a-5pm). May be required to work beyond normal working hours as defined by the needs of the Center and General Assembly. Regular and punctual attendance is an essential function of this position. This role is eligible for a hybrid-remote telework schedule.
Compensation and Benefits
Starting at $60,000, commensurate with experience. This is a full-time position with full benefits including medical, dental, prescription. Pension and 401k options available. Generous PTO and an organization committed to a healthy work-life balance.
