Position Summary
As an Interior Designer at Schaefer, you will partner directly with the Project Architect, Project Manager and/or Principal in charge to ensure design excellence, the quality of project documents, team collaboration and communication. This position requires attention to detail, a growth mindset, creative flare, and a passion for design excellence. If you have excellent communication and teamwork skills, with a desire to play a pivotal role in the design of our projects, this might be the position for you.
Required Skills
- Ability to work in all phases of design from schematics through project close-out.
- Ability to self-manage and self-motivate in a creative environment.
- Possess verbal, written and graphic communication skills necessary to convey ideas to team members, clients, contractors, and vendors.
- Maintain the quality of project documents within the established schedules.
- Possess technical proficiency in the production of drawings.
- Basic knowledge of furniture, fixtures and equipment (FF&E), architectural/interior finishes and specification, lighting, art, signage and graphics to carry out design intent.
- Experience in space planning and coordination of design elements.
- Knowledge in millwork drawings and detailing.
- Intrinsic motivation to follow industry changes, evolutions, and best practices.
Qualifications
- Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Interior Design, Interior Architecture or related field.
- Minimum 3 years of relevant experience.
- Knowledge of Building Codes and ADA standards.
- NCIDQ registration is preferred.
- Proficiency in the use of REVIT computer modeling , Enscape, and knowledge of rendering software.
- Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop/InDesign/Illustrator) experience preferred.
- The ability to travel occasionally to support project tasks.
- Familiar with small and large scale complex projects in multiple sectors.
