The Electrical Engineer is responsible for electrical analysis, detailed design, and overall electrical performance of air-cooled chiller components and systems, including providing support to the production, laboratory, service, applications, and marketing teams located globally.
Responsibilities:
- Develop electrical power panels, control panels, and wire harnesses in accordance with UL, CSA, and CE codes.
- Develop control logic strategies for software engineers. Must be able to convey strategies using flow charts, state diagrams, graphs, and overall control goals.
- Responsible for technical direction to other engineers, designers, test lab technicians, factory operations, product marketing, product technical service, field service, and application engineers.
- Uses standard and advanced technical and mathematical principles, theories, concepts, techniques, processes, and best practices in field.
- Investigates and analyzes product design requirements and recommends optimum solutions.
- Proficient in electrical design and be able to conceptualize and implement design ideas into the product.
- Establishes test criteria, participates in laboratory testing, and analyzes test data to identify chiller performance characteristics.
- Proficient at preparing, checking, and coordinating the release of documentation to support designs.
- Proficient at collecting and analyzing test data to identify electrical performance problems and propose solutions for correction.
- Responsible for the on-time completion of projects.
- Continuously increases expertise on all aspects of chiller design, theory, construction, operation, and applications.
- Proficient at selecting the most suitable electrical components.
- Prepares and participates in design reviews.
- Learns and applies regulatory codes such as UL, NEC, CSA, and CE codes.
- Strives for continuous improvement and teamwork in a global product development and process environment.
- Adheres to the Company’s Code of Conduct and Business Ethics standards.
Qualifications:
- Requires a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering (ABET accredited)
- Minimum 1-3 years applicable experience
- Skilled in analyzing electrical loads, designing power and control circuitry, reviewing control logic, and practicing mathematical theories and concepts
- Advanced knowledge of electrical components including motors, inverter drives, soft starters, contactors, and circuit breakers
- Strong electrical aptitude
- Strong time management and product development skills
- Must be able to travel up to 15% including internationally
