We are currently seeking a Director of Health Services to oversee the wellness center in a local school. This person will be an RN or Nurse Practitioner licensed in Colorado.

Title: Director of Health Services – School Based
Location: Fort Carson, CO
Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8am to 5pm
Compensation: $38- $40
PRINCIPAL DUTIES:
- Manage, hire, train, and schedule staff for the Wellness Center, including healthcare professionals such as nurses and medical technicians.
- Oversee or provide primary healthcare services, including assessments, examinations, and referrals in accordance with medical guidelines.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals, including the school physician and athletic trainers, to establish diagnoses, treatment plans, and evaluations.
- Work with the Director of Counseling to assess students' counseling needs and facilitate appropriate referrals.
- Advise the Dean of Community Life on student health matters, including assessments, counseling, follow-up care, and medical leave recommendations.
- Analyze health-related data to guide decision-making for the health management of both individual students and the wider school community.
- Offer health education to students to support them in managing health-related issues.
- Ensure follow-up services such as lab work, tests, and referrals to specialists or therapists are completed.
- Serve as a secondary consultant to nursing staff as needed.
- Ensure proper maintenance of medical records in compliance with state and school regulations.
- Provide education to patients and employees, including CPR training.
- Oversee the daily operations and maintenance of the Wellness Center.
- Conduct regular checks on emergency medical equipment and controlled substances.
- Maintain state and federal licensing for the handling of medical supplies, including dispensary and waste transportation, ensuring compliance with relevant regulatory bodies.
- Manage the ordering and inventory of medications, medical supplies, and equipment within budget guidelines.
OTHER DUTIES
- Participate in faculty and counseling group meetings.
- Accompany students to medical appointments as needed.
- Update and manage the policy and procedure manual.
- Complete the annual state immunization survey and report communicable disease cases to local, state, and federal health authorities as required.
- Carry out additional responsibilities as assigned, including tasks related to health education, programming, and the day-to-day operations of a boarding school.
- Oversee administrative functions of the Wellness Center, utilizing information technology and electronic medical records, in line with school administration guidelines.
- Conduct annual performance evaluations of nursing and medical technician staff.
REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required.
- Must hold an active RN or Nurse Practitioner license in the State of Colorado.
- Current certification in Healthcare Provider CPR and AED is required.
- Must have the ability to become a certified CPR instructor.
- NASN certification or willingness to obtain certification is required.
- Must have a valid driver’s license or obtain a Colorado license within 30 days of hire.
