The Electrical Preconstruction Manager is a key member of our preconstruction team, responsible for overseeing all preconstruction activities related to electrical systems in large-volume commercial and industrial construction projects. This role requires a deep understanding of electrical systems, strong project management skills, and the ability to deliver accurate cost estimates and schedules. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in managing preconstruction phases and a passion for driving projects to successful outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage all electrical preconstruction activities from project initiation through to the start of construction.
- Develop and implement comprehensive preconstruction plans that align with overall project goals and client expectations.
- Coordinate with project managers, engineers, architects, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless integration of electrical systems into the overall project.
- Drive the execution of preconstruction strategies to meet or exceed project deadlines and budget constraints.
- Maintain close communication with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure all project requirements are understood and met.
- Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for electrical systems in commercial and industrial construction projects.
- Analyze project plans, specifications, and drawings to develop comprehensive electrical estimates.
- Collaborate with subcontractors, suppliers, and vendors to obtain competitive pricing for materials, equipment, and labor.
- Identify potential cost-saving opportunities and recommend value engineering options to clients and project teams.
- Conduct final reviews of estimates with senior management to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Develop and manage preconstruction budgets for electrical systems, ensuring alignment with the overall project budget.
- Provide real-time cost analysis and recommendations to ensure projects remain within budget constraints.
- Continuously monitor project costs and update budgets as necessary to reflect any changes in scope or design.
- Ensure all budgeting activities adhere to company standards and client expectations.
- Develop and/or review detailed schedules for electrical systems that align with overall project timelines.
- Coordinate with project teams to ensure all preconstruction activities are completed on schedule.
- Monitor and adjust schedules as necessary to accommodate changes in project scope or client requirements.
- Ensure all scheduling activities are documented and communicated effectively to all stakeholders.
- Serve as the subject matter expert on all electrical systems for commercial and industrial construction projects.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest industry trends, technologies, and best practices in electrical systems and construction.
- Provide technical expertise and guidance to project teams on electrical systems design, installation, and maintenance.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant codes, standards, and regulations for electrical systems in construction projects.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in the construction industry, with a focus on electrical systems.
- Proven experience in cost estimating, budgeting, and project management for large-scale commercial and industrial projects.
- In-depth knowledge of electrical systems, including design, installation, and maintenance.
- Strong understanding of construction contracts, schedules, and budgets.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
- Proficiency in construction management software and tools.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Training and work experience with LEAN methodologies and applications. Strong process orientation.
- Professional certifications such as LEED AP, PMP, or equivalent.
- Experience with sustainable and energy-efficient electrical systems.
- Familiarity with Building Information Modeling (BIM) and other digital construction technologies.
Working Conditions:
- Office environment with occasional travel requirements.
- May require extended hours during peak procurement periods or project deadlines.
