The Role:
We are seeking a Vice President, Risk Management, to be based in the company's New York office. We are entrepreneurial, fast- moving, and motivated by a desire to change the way that energy and electricity are delivered around the world. We are looking for a motivated, highly experienced individual with shared beliefs and passion to come and help drive the journey.
NFE is searching for a Vice President, Risk Management that will execute and manage the Company’s Risk Management and Insurance program. This role reports to the Chief Financial Officer. The successful candidate is detail driven, organized, and delivers operational and technical expertise in a collaborative cross-functional environment. This person will be technically savvy, outgoing, and personable while working with constituents both internally and externally.
What you will do:
- Act as the primary risk management and insurance point of contact on a day-to-day basis and handle complex issues as appropriate.
- Work closely with internal stakeholders to ensure exposures are being identified and analyzed on an ongoing basis and management of the insurance programs and focus on strategic analysis and emerging risks.
- Manage relationship with insurance broker to stay abreast of market trends and implement risk management strategies across all insurance programs.
- Provide insurance estimates for construction and new/expanded areas of business.
- Work closely with the Legal, Finance, Development, and Operations in development and/or review of revised language of various contracts, update insurance costs and maintain a clear understanding of the relevance of those provisions.
- Provide annual insurance budget and business plan, along with tracking project insurance costs.
- Serve as a liaison among stakeholders and counterparties during the negotiation of non-standard insurance-related contract terms and determine and address each affected department’s needs relative to those terms.
- Review and analyze insurance policies when an interpretation of contract terms is needed, or when identification of differences in selected terms across contracts is required.
- Monitor compliance with insurance covenants in various agreements and contracts to ensure that defaults do not occur.
- Ability to travel up to 25% of the time.
What you bring:
- Bachelor’s degree in insurance, risk management, finance, law, business administration, or similar program required.
- Minimum10-15+ years of experience in Risk Management and/or Insurance department of a corporation or insurance brokerage
- CRM, CIC, ARM, CPCU or similar professional designation preferred.
- Experience reviewing insurance policies, compiling underwriting submissions, underwriter presentations and formal face to face meetings, contract reviews.
- Expert technical knowledge of insurance coverages.
- Efficiently maintain insurance coverage for construction and operation, including but not limited to property/business interruption, commercial general liability, directors’ and officers’ liability, builder’s risk, pollution liability, Hull and Machinery and P&I.
- Experience with large construction contracts and related knowledge in energy infrastructure construction and vessel/marine operations.
- Possess excellent organizational skills and the ability to work on multiple tasks and/or projects with little supervision, with attention to details key, with limited timeline.
- Oversight of the claims management and reporting.
- Have excellent interpersonal skills, and excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to adapt to varied and quickly changing responsibilities in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
