Geotechnical Engineer - Instrumentation
We seek a Geotechnical engineer to oversee and manage the monitoring phase of multiple construction projects, ensuring compliance with regulations, and delivering accurate data to clients. You will review SOE and foundation plans, analyze data from optical, crack, and vibration monitoring, and collaborate closely with contractors and clients.
Occasional site visits are required to assess project status and verify monitoring instrumentation.
Note: Previous monitoring experience is a plus, but not mandatory. We welcome candidates with strong geotechnical expertise looking to transition into monitoring.
Location: New York City Metropolitan Area
Salary Range: up to $80,000 to $145,000

Key Responsibilities:
- Manage construction monitoring for optical, crack, and vibration metrics.
- Review SOE and foundation plans to develop monitoring strategies.
- Oversee monitoring data collection, ensuring compliance with NYC building code 3309.
- Produce detailed client reports, verifying the stability and performance of adjacent properties.
- Collaborate with field staff, contractors, and clients to ensure project success.
- Conduct pre-construction surveys and review data for movement or stability concerns.
Qualifications:
- Must possess a valid NY State Professional Engineer (PE) license. (NJ PE is a plus but not required)
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
- Experience in civil engineering and construction industry, with an understanding of how soil conditions impact structural integrity.
- Strong working knowledge of NYC DOB codes and construction regulations.
- Solid project management skills with a focus on compliance and safety.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- A valid driver's license is required.
