Job Description for Purchasing Agent
Established Personal Care Manufacturer seeking an experienced Raw Materials Purchasing Agent / Buyer. Ideal candidate will be responsible for placing orders and maintaining Purchasing documents and Excel spreadsheets. The successful candidate for this position has experience in a manufacturing environment and an understanding of Supply Chain Management concepts.
Job Responsibilities
File, Mail, Copy, Email and organize paperwork (Invoices, Purchase Orders, Receivers, Packing Lists, BOL’s and other related documents as needed)
Excellent written and oral communication skills, reliable, able to multi-task, attention to details a must and accuracy
Perform general and specific clerical functions
Process financial data into Excel spreadsheets, etc.
Handle shipping claims
Create and issue new material codes in ERP system and properly maintain in purchasing database
Strong Negotiation skills
Tracking of Key Performance Indicators
Develop an efficient and accurate system for monitoring all open purchase orders
Schedule maintenance service for warehouse equipment as requested
Maintenance of Excel priority lists which include critical raw materials for all brands
Properly maintain Raw Material Code change forms
Understanding of supply chain principles and processes, including supply/demand planning, safety stock, lead-time, transportation, and warehousing.
Interaction with Quality Control, Lab Personnel, R&D as well as with Production/Warehouse associates
Perform other duties and special projects as assigned
Qualifications

Education
Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Accounting desired but not necessary. Associate degree or three years of related experience and/or training.
Communication Skills
Ability to read and interpret documents such as invoices, purchase orders, receivers, packing lists, BOL’s, etc. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from both internal and external individuals.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to learn and use conversions from kilos to lbs. and vice versa by using a calculator as well as general math skills.
Computer Skills
Must be computer literate with proficiency and working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and Internet
Experience with Batchmaster ERP, SAP or similar
QuickBooks or equivalent knowledge
