Akkodis is seeking a security engineer for a contract to hire position with a client located in Dallas, Texas area.
Pay/Salary Range: 50 to 60 hr
As a Security Engineer, you will play a critical role in safeguarding our organization by ensuring the integrity and security of our systems and data. You will be responsible for validating and testing security configurations and controls across a range of technologies, including firewalls, email gateways, web application firewalls (WAFs), data loss prevention (DLP) solutions, endpoint protection, and cloud security environments. Your expertise with multiple SIEM tools will be essential in identifying and mitigating potential security threats. Additionally, you will work with established security frameworks to ensure compliance and enhance our security posture.
Key Responsibilities:
- Validate and test security configurations and controls across various security technologies such as firewalls, email gateways, WAFs, DLP solutions, endpoint protection, and baseline security settings.
- Deploy and manage SIEM tools to monitor, analyze, and respond to security incidents.
- Conduct vulnerability assessments and security audits to identify potential threats and weaknesses in the security posture.
- Develop and implement security policies, procedures, and best practices to enhance overall security and compliance.
- Apply security frameworks such as NIST, ISO 27001, and CIS Controls to guide security practices and ensure adherence to industry standards and regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with IT and development teams to integrate security measures into system designs and applications.
- Stay current with emerging security threats, technologies, and best practices to proactively address potential risks.
- Provide detailed reports and documentation of security assessments, incident responses, and remediation efforts.
- Participate in incident response activities and coordinate with relevant teams to manage and resolve security incidents.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a security engineering role with a focus on validating and testing security configurations and controls.
- Hands-on experience with various security technologies, including firewalls, email gateways, WAFs, DLP solutions, endpoint protection, and cloud security.
- Proficiency with multiple SIEM tools (e.g., Splunk, QRadar, LogRhythm).
- Strong understanding of network protocols, security concepts, and threat modeling.
- Experience with security frameworks such as NIST, ISO 27001, and CIS Controls.
- Experience with vulnerability assessment tools and techniques.
- Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CEH, or equivalent are highly desirable.
- Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to explain complex security issues to non-technical stakeholders.
