Job Opportunity: Buyer/Planner
Location: Franklin Park (Hyrbid 2 days after 90 days)
About the Role:
We are seeking a highly skilled Buyer/Planner to join our team, reporting directly to the Purchasing Manager. This role is crucial in supporting our engineered-to-order product fabrication and production. You will have the opportunity to make an immediate impact by researching and purchasing products and supplies while enjoying autonomy, open dialogue with senior managers, and respect for your contributions.
Education and Experience:
Preferred:
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Economics, or a related field.
- Commodity buying of metals (experience in the heavy plate industry purchasing hydraulic cylinders, vessels, welded cylinders, plate, etc.)
Required:
- 5+ years of purchasing experience in a manufacturing operation (Preferably engineered-to-order products)
Responsibilities:
- Inventory Management: Oversee and maintain inventory levels, ensuring they align with production needs.
- Market Analysis: Research, analyze, and forecast current and future buying trends, focusing on improving manufacturing performance.
- Supplier Relations: Develop and maintain relationships with wholesalers and suppliers to ensure timely and cost-effective procurement.
- Financial Assessment: Assess financial risks associated with purchases and make informed decisions to mitigate those risks.
- Event Participation: Attend trade shows, product exhibitions, and conferences to stay updated on new products and industry trends.
- MRP Management: Maintain the integrity of MRP planning parameters, including costing, lot size, lead times, and days of supply.
- Demand Analysis: Execute MRP signals, including pull-ins, pushouts, and cancellations, to meet production requirements.
- Order Management: Communicate with suppliers and place purchase orders according to MRP requirements.
- Production Planning: Coordinate detailed production schedules with the manufacturing department and third-party suppliers.
- Data Accuracy: Ensure the accuracy and integrity of purchasing and planning master data for assigned materials and products.

- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
- Experience with ERP-based financial systems (Infor XA or Microsoft Dynamics 365 is a plus).
- Authorization to work in the U.S. (no visa sponsorships available).
