As a Traffic Engineer II, you will handle a mix of conventional and moderately complex engineering tasks, applying engineering theories, techniques, and company procedures to your work. Candidates should have experience preparing traffic impact studies and developing or assessing design and operational alternatives in line with local, state, and federal policies. Occasional travel to supplier, client, or construction sites is expected.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with a team of engineers and technicians on a variety of traffic engineering projects.
- Assist in the analysis, design, and implementation of projects such as traffic impact studies, traffic operations studies, capacity analysis, traffic signal design, signal timing, signing, striping, and traffic control plans.
- Provide support for other engineering tasks as needed, including supervising subordinates and providing performance feedback.
- Lead or contribute to small to mid-sized projects within your specific discipline.
- Offer technical guidance to CAD Designers/Drafters, Designers, and junior Engineers working on the same project.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience in Traffic/Transportation Engineering.
- Experience conducting traffic counts, travel time studies, and roadway element inventories.
- Proficiency in traffic signal design and signal timing development tools.
- Familiarity with MUTCD (Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices) and HCM (Highway Capacity Manual).
- Strong working knowledge of traffic analysis and simulation software, including Synchro, HCS, VISSIM, as well as MicroStation or AutoCAD.
- Solid hands-on experience with major technical analyses.
- Familiarity with transportation issues in metropolitan regions and the ability to work with key stakeholders.
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field from an accredited institution.
- PE (Professional Engineer) registration is preferred.
