POSITION SUMMARY
The Payroll Specialist processes payroll and maintains payroll records in accordance with all federal and state laws and regulations, while ensuring proper governmental reporting and compliance. The Payroll Specialist completes accurate calculation of wages, tax withholdings and company deductions and prepares statistical reports on employee pay, leave and taxes/withholdings, etc.
The Payroll Specialist leads the development of new procedures and policies related to payroll operations, researches, analyzes and resolves payroll-related issues or questions and provides exemplary, prompt customer service.
HIRING REQUIREMENTS
- Associate’s degree in Accounting, Business or Human Resources preferred, or equivalent work experience.
- Minimum four years of payroll work experience; 3rd party payroll experience preferred.
- Knowledge of federal/state laws and regulations relating to compensation and benefit programs.
- Strong math skills; ability to handle detail-oriented work.
- Personal computer experience; proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Strong data entry skills and 10-key aptitude.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of personnel compensation and benefits information and other human resources issues.
- Ability to listen, understand and respond to external and internal customers’ needs in a timely manner; customer service experience in a service-related industry preferred.
- Ability to work the time necessary to complete projects and/or meet deadlines.
