Brunel is currently searching for a Field Maintenance Supervisor for a contract position with potential to become a permanent position with our client located in Kershaw, South Carolina.
This position will work both day and night shift on rotation. The rotation will be 7 days on, then 7 days off, then 7 nights off, and 7 days off. The shifts are 12 hours. Fly in/fly out or drive in/drive out is available. Accommodations provided, plus per diem.
About the Role:
The Maintenance Supervisor ensures that all planned / unplanned maintenance activities for the loading, haulage, drill, and ancillary equipment is properly executed in a safe and efficient manner. Work closely with other teams and supervisors within mobile maintenance and other departments across the site. Primary responsibilities will be on the reactive maintenance.
Key Tasks/Responsibilities:
- Review and direct technicians on all scheduled / unscheduled repair activities, ensuring safe / efficient execution.
- Discuss upcoming schedules and plans with peers.
- Coordinate with the operations supervisors / dispatcher for all scheduled activities. Ensure the sequencing matches the schedule as developed.
- Assign and distribute the work order packages which include appropriate standard job plans, single point lessons, oil sample labels to the technicians.
- Spend at minimum 50% of time on “visible felt leadership” interacting with the technicians and service contractors.
- Attend meetings when on shift to communicate current machine status & priority, unplanned sick leave, parts issues, required schedule changes and uncompleted work orders requiring rescheduling.
- Proactive interaction with Reactive and PM Technicians – supporting and executing safety / reliability improvements to the equipment.
- Develop crew support for other continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications:
- 5 to 10 years technical experience in the maintenance industry, preferably in the heavy equipment environment.
- 2 years’ experience as a supervisor or an equivalent supervisory position
- Direct practical experience working with mining equipment, particularly Komastu PC 3000 & 4000, CAT 6020 excavators, CAT 992K, 993K, 988H front end loaders, electric drive haul trucks and various CAT ancillary equipment.
- Heavy Equipment Maintenance Technician degree preferred but not required
Desired Skills:
- MS Office Suite (MS Excel, MS Word, MS Outlook)
- Pronto software experience would be desired
- CAT SIS, CAT ET
- MyKomatsu, Minestar
- Cummins Quickserve and related programs
Key Result Areas & Measures:
- Excellent and demonstrated commitment to safety & health, interacting with maintenance shop personnel to ensure activities are completed without compromise to the safety and health of all personnel.
- Ensure key performance measures are actively reviewed with the technicians targeting fleet availability.
- Rigorous and thorough management for completing scheduled / unscheduled activities to minimize the production impact of the equipment being down for maintenance activities.
- Actively and constructively communicate opportunities for improvement / development to technicians consistently updating individuals as to their current job performance.
- Maintain rigorous housekeeping habits of all maintenance work areas.
- Maintain maintenance shift reports, area inspections, planned general inspections, dispatch reporting data and employee evaluations.
- Maintain good working relationships with key vendors / manufacturers such as Linder (Komatsu), Blanchard (Cat)
- Provide technical support and training to the PM and repair technicians.
- Submit - at minimum - one Field Level Risk Assessment daily.
Physical Requirements:
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, demonstrate manual dexterity, climb stairs, talk, hear and see.
- Must be Fit for Duty: Able to lift and carry 50lbs overhead, climb ladders, work at heights, etc.
- Must be able to work in adverse weather conditions: wind, rain, sun.
- Work is in a surface mine setting, which may include exposure to extremes in temperature and humidity.
- Personal protective equipment is required when performing work in a mine environment, including hard hat, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety footwear, and as needed, respirator, rubber steel-toe boots, protective clothing, gloves, and any other protective equipment as required.
