This position is remote; however, this individual must come into the office ~2X/month. Offices are located in the following cities in Michigan: Alma, Bay City, Saginaw, Flint, Livonia, Royal Oak, Owosso, Kalamazoo, Jackson, Adrian, Lansing, and Powell.
The Gas Service Design Analyst is responsible for the review of gas distribution service designs and corresponding SAP notifications and design documents. During the review process, this role identifies and documents project adherence to business processes, company and industry standards, and general design best practices. Occasionally this position will need to provide clarification on their review feedback to service designers, as well as provide feedback to leadership on common design quality errors.
The Gas Service Design Analyst will have experience with utility system design and analysis using Computer Aided Design (CAD) and Geographic Information System (GIS) software. The Gas Service Design Analyst will be expected to review a variety of project complexities ranging from intermediate to advanced level, and will occasionally coordinate with internal departments, contractors, and leadership to ensure compliance and effective management of project tasks.
Responsibilities:
- Understand, apply, and recommend department standards, procedures, processes, and job aids as related to plans and specifications, maps, images, specialized components, custom reports, cells, and related material for projects or other work order application documents.
- Apply utility design and construction standards to ensure compliance. Understanding of appropriate materials and components based on project requirements.
- Ability to analyze industry standards, maps, blueprint drawings, details, survey data, sketches, and project scope requirements.
- Other non-essential duties as assigned or may be necessary.
Skills:
- Software experience: MicroStation, AutoCAD, and/or GIS.
- Skilled at task prioritization and coordination within a team environment, while maintaining an ability to complete tasks with a high level of independence.
- Energy industry background, such as knowledge and experience in gas distribution utility operations and design.
- Ability to understand and apply regulations, company policies, standards, and procedures.

Requirements:
- Technical or engineering associate degree or higher is preferred
- 3-7 years of experience required, 7-10 years preferred
- Experience in the utility/energy sector is preferred (i.e. gas, electrical, sewer, water, or telecom design)
- Experience using AutoCAD, MicroStation, and/or GIS
