ob Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Pipeline Project Engineer to oversee the rerate and reuse of existing pipelines for our project. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring compliance with DOT pipeline regulations, facilitating the permitting process, and managing the technical aspects of pipeline rerate and reuse activities. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of federal and state pipeline regulations, experience with project management, and the ability to collaborate effectively with various stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the rerate and reuse of existing pipelines in compliance with DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations, ensuring safe and efficient operations.
- Conduct engineering analysis to evaluate the structural integrity and capacity of existing pipeline systems for reuse and rerating.
- Prepare and submit rerate calculations, reports, and documentation in line with DOT regulations and standards (e.g., 49 CFR 192/195).
- Develop and manage project schedules, budgets, and resources to ensure project milestones are met.
- Coordinate with internal teams, including design, safety, regulatory, and construction, to ensure project success.
- Oversee the pipeline permitting process, including acquiring all necessary federal, state, and local permits.
- Liaise with regulatory bodies, external consultants, and contractors to facilitate timely permitting and compliance activities.
- Ensure adherence to all environmental, safety, and quality regulations throughout the pipeline rerate and reuse processes.
- Provide technical guidance and support to junior engineers, contractors, and stakeholders involved in the project.
- Conduct risk assessments, feasibility studies, and project evaluations related to the rerate and reuse of pipelines.
- Ensure all engineering work is completed to the highest standards, meeting both regulatory and company requirements.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil, Mechanical, or Pipeline Engineering (or a related field).
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in pipeline engineering, with a focus on pipeline rerate, reuse, or modifications.
- In-depth knowledge of DOT pipeline regulations, particularly 49 CFR Parts 192 (Gas Pipelines) and/or 195 (Hazardous Liquids).
- Experience with pipeline permitting processes, including knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations.
- Proven ability to manage complex engineering projects and deliver results on time and within budget.
- Strong understanding of pipeline integrity management, pressure testing, and rerating procedures.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders.
- Professional Engineering (PE) license preferred.
- Experience with project management software and tools is a plus.
