Job Summary
Our client is seeking a highly skilled Senior Migration Engineer to lead the migration of their High-Performance Computing (HPC) environment from VMware to Canonical KVM and OpenStack. This role will be critical in designing, implementing, and accelerating the migration process as part of a strategic initiative to remove VMware from the backend infrastructure. The ideal candidate will be proficient in Canonical KVM, OpenStack, and related technologies and capable of mentoring internal teams through the transition.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the migration of the company’s HPC environment from VMware to Canonical KVM and OpenStack.
- Design and implement a container-based migration process to ensure efficient and smooth transitions.
- Collaborate with the internal engineering team to accelerate the migration timeline and address technical challenges.
- Provide guidance and mentoring to engineers in KVM, OpenStack, and related tools.
- Automate processes using Terraform and other Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) tools.
- Integrate new solutions with existing infrastructure, including VMware vSphere and vSAN.
Required Skills:
- Strong expertise in Canonical OpenStack.
- Hands-on experience with Terraform for automation.
- Knowledge of VMware vSphere and vSAN.
- Understanding of HPC environments and their unique challenges.
Desired Skills:
- Familiarity with DevOps/GitOps practices.
- Experience with Ceph for distributed storage.
- Proficiency with IaC principles.
- Experience with Grafana for monitoring and visualization.
- Knowledge of Kubernetes for container orchestration.
- Ability to mentor and guide technical teams through complex migrations.
