Pre-Litigation Personal Injury Paralegal (Hybrid)

Jones Networking is recruiting for a Pre-Litigation Personal Injury Paralegal to join a leading Personal Injury Law Firm in Charlotte, NC. This position involves frequent telephone contact with clients, opposing law firms, insurance adjusters and medical offices. Responsibilities of the Pre-Litigation Personal Injury Paralegal:
- Regular communication with clients to provide case updates and to obtain information.
- Case management – follow and execute tasks assigned by an Attorney.
- Oversee Litigation Attorney’s calendar.
- Schedule depositions, mediations, hearings, and case-related events.
- Routine correspondence including confirmation of scheduling or enclosure of information.
- Email communications regarding case updates or scheduling.
- Routine pleadings including notice of depositions, designation of mediators, motions to continue, voluntary dismissals, and motion to compel.
- Trial preparation including routine trial pleadings, medical bill summary exhibit, list of exhibits, coordinate witness interviews, etc.
- Prepare drafts of complaints, affidavits, and motions.
- Prepare summons and discovery responses.
- Copy and organize exhibits for use at depositions, hearings, mediations, and trials.
- Request medical records and bills; follow up on requests.
- Summarize medical records.
- Request firm checks and pay invoices related to litigation expenses.
- Update spreadsheet itemizing medical bill payments and balances.
- Maintain case note entries in Needles case management software.
- Return calls to adjusters or medical providers concerning case status.
Requirements of the Pre-Litigation Personal Injury Paralegal:
- Must have Paralegal or Case Management experience in a civil personal injury law firm (plaintiff or defense).
- At least 3-5 years of prior legal experience.
- Paralegal Degree or Certificate highly preferred.
- Working knowledge of legal software.
- Proficiency working with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong desire to work with people.
- Pleasant telephone voice and etiquette.
- Attention to detail and ability to multitask.
- Ability to diffuse, recognize and offer problem resolution to irate clients.
- Good listening skills and compassion.
