Arxada is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic who will perform repairs and maintenance in plant or office facilities, or on machines and equipment. Typically performs work in one or more of the maintenance trades: carpentry, plumbing, painting, machine and equipment repair, electrical, sheet metal fabrication, and welding. Conducts routine, periodic, or special inspections to determine repair and maintenance work necessary to prevent breakdowns of facilities, machinery, and equipment. Uses hand and power tools. Tests, inspects, troubleshoots, and repairs machines and equipment. Uses blueprints, sketches, layouts, wiring diagrams, drawings and specifications.
Essential Job Functions:
- Ability to use hand and power tools applicable to trade.
- Ability to read, understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures.
- Inspect, maintain and repair industrial equipment and machinery to ensure they are always in proper working order.
- Test and observe equipment and machinery using tools such as voltmeters and other testing devices to diagnose malfunctions and make repairs as needed.
- Care for machinery and equipment by cleaning them after use, adjusting parts and lubricating moving components as needed to ensure proper, efficient function.
- Examine moving parts on a daily, weekly and monthly basis for signs of excessive wear, defects and damage.
- Record all maintenance and repair services performed and keep track of all materials and parts used during the repair process.
- Order or request orders to be placed to replenish materials and parts when inventory grows low or is depleted.
- Study manufacturer manuals and blueprints and carefully follow directions when operating or setting up newly acquired machinery.
- Cut and weld metal pieces together as needed to fabricate new parts, assemble equipment or repair broken parts as needed.
Qualifications & Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Work experience working in a manufacturing environment, chemical manufacturing, preferred.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds without assistance.
- Strong verbal communication skills.
- Five or more years of experience as an industrial mechanic
- 3 plus years experience repairing industrial size pumps including replacing mechanical seals.
- Experience installing carbon steel and stainless-steel piping and operating a threading machine.
The expected salary for this union position is $34.03hr.
This role is also eligible to earn a bonus and benefits as defined in the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
