Senior R&D Chemist
Principle Tasks
- Direct, coordinate, and advise personnel in scientific procedures for analyzing components and physical properties of materials, alloys, and catalysts, including metal deposition reactions, alloying, intermetallic chemistry, and/or colloidal chemistry. Need research knowledge of iridium chemistry
- Evaluate laboratory safety procedures to ensure compliance with regulations and best practices and make improvements as needed.
- Compile and analyze test information to determine process and equipment operating efficiency and to diagnose malfunctions.
- Write technical papers or reports and prepare specifications for processes, facilities, products, and tests.
- Confer with scientists and engineers to conduct analyses of research projects, interpret test results, and develop novel processes.
- Develop, improve, and customize products, equipment, formulas, processes, and analytical methods.
- Execute, manage, and report on grant projects.
- Write and present papers and posters at conferences and trade shows.
Knowledge in:
- Engineering and Technology — Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology. This includes applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design and production of catalysts and catalyst supports. Need research knowledge of iridium chemistry
- Electrochemical characterization and instrumentation; electrochemical evaluation and data analyses to direct future research/manufacturing directions
- Electrocatalysts, alloys, fuel cells, electrolyzers, electrodes, and associated devices.
- Science — Using scientific rules and methods to solve problems with strong laboratory best practices.
- Critical Thinking — Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
- Complex Problem Solving — Identifying complex problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.
- Writing and Speaking — Communicating effectively as appropriate for the needs of the audience including professional audiences.
Edu/ Training/ Exp Required
- PhD in materials science, chemistry, chemical engineering, or similar with hydrogen catalyst technology, intermetallic, and/or alloy chemistry emphasis; research knowledge of iridium chemistry
- Strong organizational, analytical, writing, troubleshooting, and complex problem-solving skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Suite to plan, analyze, and report on projects, experimental data, and logs; JMP/DOE software; electronic notebooking, etc.
- Chemical Safety and Regulatory requirements
- Must be a Citizen of the US

Must be willing to relocate to and work onsite in Albuquerque, NM.
