JOB SUMMARY:
Responsible for providing emissions testing to include operation and maintenance of emissions testing equipment and facilities; coordination of daily emissions testing activities; ensuring access and assisting in the securing or shutting down of the building and equipment during emergencies and other situations.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Coordinate/conduct emissions testing including preparation of vehicles, testing vehicles in controlled environments, interpreting test data, and technical/safety oversight of the emissions lab.
2. Maintains and calibrates emissions test equipment including dynamometer, analyzer system, sampling system, evaporative emissions systems, and data collection systems.
3. Assist engineers in design and development of test procedures for new products and recommend product improvements.
4. Oversees operation, maintenance, and safety of fuel exchange room, and soak area.
5. Coordinates, sets up, prepares, and performs various vehicle or system tests in specialized areas.
6. Maintains a high-quality standards and support continuous improvement of the organization.
7. Analyzes and interprets test data as well as evaluating and resolving complex problems.
8. Creates and issues various types of reports as directed by management.
9. Drives forklift, roll back truck, and other vehicles as required for hauling and shipping vehicles and parts.
10. Must possess a valid driver’s license.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Maintains various tools and equipment owned by the workgroup.
2. Coordinates stock of parts and supplies, shipping and receiving, along with packaging used parts for shipping.
3. Represents Company for vendor/supplier business issues.
4. Assists with facilities duties to include repairs, inspections, and safety functions.
5. Perform any other duties that may be assigned or required.
EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE:
1. 10 years related experience as an automotive test technician.
2. Practical knowledge of emissions testing procedure and emissions lab operations
3. Associate’ degree in automotive technology or equivalent. Education may be substituted for experience.
