Medical scribes, or medical transcriptionists, assist physicians or other healthcare professionals by performing clerical tasks and taking notes during patient consultations. Medical scribes generally use an electronic health record (EHR) system to record the patient information. Will also assist with callbacks and in-baskets. Also ensure all encounters are closed.
This position is full-time, Monday - Saturday. Employees are required to have flexibility to work any of our 8-hour shift schedules between our normal business hours of 8:00 am - 7:00 pm EST. Every other Saturday is required. Saturday hours will be 8:00 am -2:00 PM EST. It may be necessary, given the business need, to work occasional overtime. Our office is located at 195 Cortland Street, Belleville, NJ.
We offer weeks of paid on-the-job training. The hours of the training will be aligned with your schedule.
Primary Responsibilities: - Accurately scribe as the physician is examining patient
- Maintain adherence to transcription quality assurance standards
- Demonstrate appropriate grammar, punctuation and style standards when transcribing / editing provider dictations
- Demonstrate knowledge of anatomy, physiology and pharmacology
- Demonstrate knowledge of medical terminology for appropriate medical specialties
- Demonstrate knowledge of medical / surgical procedures and equipment for appropriate medical specialties
- Demonstrate knowledge of medications / dosages for appropriate medical specialties
- Assist with callbacks and in-baskets
- Ensures all encounters are closed

Required Qualification: - High School Diploma / GED OR 1+ year of working experience
- Must be 18+ years of age OR older
- Ability to travel to other office locations / facilities within a 60 mile radius of 195 Cortland Street, Belleville, NJ.
- Ability to work Monday - Saturday including ability to open and close office any of our 8-hour shift schedules between our normal business hours of 8:00 am - 7:00 pm EST. Every other Saturday is required. Saturday hours will be 8:00 am - 2:00 pm EST
Preferred Qualifications: - Work experience as a medical scribe in a fast-paced clinical environment
- Experience with E-Clinical Works / Epic EMR
- Knowledge of Medical Terminology
- Understanding of medical terminology from education or previous on-the-job training
- Ability to type at the speed of 60+ WPM (words per minute)
New Jersey Residents Only: The hourly range for New Jersey residents is $16.54 - $32.55 per hour. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
