Position Title: Paralegal/Legal Assistant- Litigation
Location: Bethesda, MD (100% Onsite)
Compensation: $60,000 - $80,000 per year, depending on experience
Position Summary:
Our law firm client is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Litigation Paralegal. In this role, you will be responsible for providing comprehensive support to attorneys involving general administrative tasks as well as more detailed support for attorneys, such as drafting various legal documents and incorporating document revisions from handwritten notes, assisting with tech issues, and preparing attorneys for court appearances.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide comprehensive administrative support to 2-3 attorneys, including a senior partner.
- Perform administrative tasks such as opening new case files, check requests, expense reports, printing, scanning, copying, filing, and some billing tasks.
- Organize and facilitate virtual meetings, including scheduling, coordinating logistics, and ensuring all technical aspects are in place.
- Process and manage incoming and outgoing mail, including scanning, saving, and distributing documents.
- Assist with client intake forms, ensuring all necessary information is collected and processed accurately.
- Enter attorney time and billing information into the firm’s timekeeping and billing system.
- Manage court appearance schedules, process service requests, and maintain accurate records of case developments.
- Collaborate closely with attorneys and property management clients to prepare and file various Landlord-Tenant-related documents and pleadings
- Draft, finalize, and serve legal notices in compliance with lease provisions and applicable laws.
- Assist attorneys in preparing for court appearances, including organizing exhibits, communicating with property managers, and preparing court dockets.
- Serve as primary point of contact between attorneys, clients, tenants, and court officials, and coordinate any necessary travel to client sites or court venues.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree and/or Paralegal Certificate, preferred
- Minimum of 2+ years of experience as a paralegal or legal assistant, preferably with a focus on Landlord-Tenant law or general civil litigation.
- Proficiency in MS Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and legal software applications.
- Familiarity with Maryland court procedures and e-filing systems.
- Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
- Self-motivated and able to manage multiple tasks independently.
- Team player with a collaborative work ethic.
