A legal services firm in Jesey City, NJ is looking to fill an immediate need with the addition of a new Legal Assistant to their team.
Responsibilities:
The Legal Assistant will be responsible for:
- Administrative support duties including answering telephones, scheduling meetings and coordinating calendars for future events and deadlines, documents, e-mails, and other related materials
- Track matters which are in process and maintains both centralized office files in digital and where appropriate paper formats
- Review correspondence and proof-read documents for grammar, punctuation, exhibits, and enclosures
- E-filing in NJ, NY, and federal eCourts
- Handle and manage cases with large volumes of documents and frequent filings
- Preparation and execution of documents, correspondence, cover sheets and reports, and distribution of such documents
- Enter daily timesheets of attorney's activities by client and matter
- Prepare monthly billing, close out files, and maintain tracking system
- Perform other duties as assigned by attorneys and administrative personnel
Qualifications:
- 3-5 years of experience in a law firm environment
- Ability to work well under pressure and meet tight deadlines
- Ability to work well independently as well as effectively within a team
- Excellent interpersonal skills, problem solving and oral and written communication skills
- Ability to manage confidential information and sensitive situations with tact and discretion
