JOB DESCRIPTION – GC Chemist/Lab Specialist (4680)
Location: Texas City, TX area
Position Summary:
The Lab Specialistis responsible for the routine analyses of production samples.
Essential Functions:
- Perform routine analyses for customers and production
- Troubleshoot problems with analyzers that may affect production
- Review/update current analytical methods
- Analyze gas samples using Gas Chromatography equipment and accessories
- Manage special projects in support of operations
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Chemistry preferred
- Must have a minimum of 5 years in industrial lab setting
- Strong familiarity with Gas Chromatography principles and hardware
- Strong familiarity with Gas tanks, valves, and accessories
- Working knowledge of ASTM, UOP, and other standardized testing methods
- Familiarity with ISO 9001, ISO 17025 is a plus
Skills and Abilities:
- Must be comfortably able to move and connect/disconnect gas cylinders safely
- Must have strong written and oral communication skills
- Must have strong analytical and technical skills
- Must be self-motivated
Type of Assignment:
Shift Schedule:
- Monday – Friday day shift. Must be willing to work weekends and overtime as needed.
