Head of Project Procurement
Location: Brooklyn, NY
Type: Fulltime, Salaried
Work Model: Hybrid (2-3 days in office/week)
Salary Range: $180,000-$212,000 base salary + additional bonus

Our client – one of the world’s largest utilities providers - is looking to bring on a senior procurement professional to lead their Capital Project Procurement strategy moving forward. This organization is investing extensively into this team over the coming years and it’s the perfect time to step into a director level title with significant room for growth in a stable, yet challenging environment. Any experience working in power generation or transmission supply chain is highly beneficial.
Responsibilities:
- Establish the overall delivery model for programs/projects, including the commercial structure and market approach.
- Work with business partners or stakeholders to understand the workbook, define the scope of support needed, and prepare in advance.
- Contribute to the approval process for programs/projects with both internal and external stakeholders.
- Lead the end-to-end development and implementation of the supply chain plan for the business unit or function, including tracking progress.
- Collaborate on sourcing strategy with category leads and provide input on vendor selection and contracting when necessary.
- Ensure successful execution of programs/projects, including coordinating suppliers and managing claims.
- Oversee procurement activities to ensure they stay within budget and maintain financial oversight.
- Identify and mitigate procurement-related risks, such as supply chain disruptions, cost increases, and project delivery issues, and communicate these to stakeholders regularly.
- Maintain strong relationships with category leads and business partners, promoting a unified team approach to large programs/projects.
- Lead strategic supplier engagement for business unit/function-specific suppliers, with support from the Supplier Engagement team.
- Manage and develop a high-performing team, fostering innovation, engagement, and a performance-driven culture to meet or exceed strategic objectives.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with Leadership to define the 1-3 year strategy and annual operating plans for Procurement.
- Convert high-level concepts into specific objectives, providing teams with a clear and straightforward path to success.
- Drive major process improvements and standardization efforts to achieve cost savings in procurement by challenging current practices.
- Engage all stakeholders actively and continuously seek ways to enhance efficiency within Employer.
- Support opportunities with low-cost country suppliers to promote standardization, process improvement, and enhanced technical capabilities across Employer’s global commodity spend categories.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field
- Capital Project Procurement background, experience working in EPC or with EPC firms preferred
- Significant team management experience necessary for this role
- Preference towards expertise in Utilities, EPC, Energy, Construction industries
