Job Title: Lead Buyer – Capex Procurement
Location: Houston, TX
Pay rate: $34.40 per hour
Industry: Biotechnology/Manufacturing
We are seeking a Lead Buyer to manage Capex procurement activities for projects valued between $10M and $500M across our client's US sites. This role is critical in supporting strategic growth by ensuring timely and cost-effective procurement of systems, equipment, and services to bring new manufacturing capacity online.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement procurement strategies for capital expenditure (Capex) investment projects.
- Collaborate with Global Capex Procurement, Global Engineering, and key stakeholders to align sourcing priorities.
- Procure Capex equipment, supplies, and services (systems, subsystems, spare parts, consulting, engineering, etc.).
- Lead commercial negotiations, draft supply agreements, and manage supplier relationships.
- Resolve supply chain issues, mitigate risks, and develop risk management strategies.
- Work with Project Management to track and report supplier performance metrics.
- Implement cost reduction strategies to meet project and business needs.
- Report savings and maintain a project savings pipeline.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree
- Proven experience in Capex procurement, including contract negotiations.
- Strong project management and supplier relationship management skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office, SAP, and Oracle Unifier.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and analytical skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a matrix organization and interdisciplinary teams.
