We are looking for Junior Buyer to support our team at our corporate location in Cincinnati, Ohio.
Summary
The Junior Buyer is a procurement entry level position that develops skills, and experience necessary to perform all purchasing activities. The Junior Buyer is responsible to support operations with an uninterrupted flow of raw materials, finished goods, or services. The Junior Buyer runs MRP and purchases materials; resolves issues related to the procure-to-pay process; Collaborates with suppliers and all stakeholders, communicating material deliveries, system updates, and issue resolution.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Analyzes material planning requirements for specific production areas and maintain appropriate levels of materials and supplies in stock.
- Analyzes and orders, reschedules, or cancels raw materials from suppliers, based on material requirements in JDE with use of Material Requirement Planning (MRP).
- Maintains an adequate supply of materials to keep all production areas working and keep obsolete and excess material inventory levels at a minimum.
- Maintains all supplier related sections of the MRP: supplier information, pricing, lead times, safety stocks, mins/mults, payment and freight terms, etc.
- Contacts suppliers regarding material problems, such as delayed receipt, poor quality, wrong items, etc. and resolving issues as required.
- Develops and maintains high quality supplier relations.
- Ensures on-time delivery of purchased goods and services by working closely with the suppliers and internal operations.
- Communicates with current and prospective suppliers to determine supply capabilities, transportation logistics, and inventory control and management.
- Communicates information through the use of written or verbal reports, Excel spreadsheets, PowerPoint presentations to superiors, peers, other affected functions, and suppliers.
- Achieves maximum integration with other departments to improve material standardization, make or buy decisions, alternate sources or material options, quality, price, and delivery issues.
- Confers with suppliers to obtain product or service information, such as price, availability, and delivery schedule.
- Selects products for purchase by testing, observing, or examining items.
- Estimates values according to knowledge of market price.
- Maintains procurement records, such as items or services purchased, costs, delivery, product quality or performance, and inventories.
- Discusses defective or unacceptable goods or services with inspection or quality control personnel, users, suppliers, and others to determine source of trouble and takes corrective action.
- Participates in additional projects or services as directed

Education and/or Experience
- Four (4) year college degree with a major in Operations, Business, or Procurement preferred. Specific purchasing experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
Language Skills
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, suppliers, and internal customers.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, proportions, percentages using Excel.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to solve practical problems. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Computer Skills
- Knowledge and experience using MRP Systems
- Microsoft Office – Proficient at Word, Excel, PowerPoint
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
- Industry standard certification, such as APICS "CPIM/CIRM" or NAPM "CPM", is preferred.
