Hours: Mon- Fri School hours
Pay: Competitive and based on experience
Mix of Elementary, Middle and High school students.
Caseload: 8-12 students
Position Summary: As a Licensed Special Education Teacher, you will work under the direction of the building administration. Your primary responsibilities include developing and providing specialized instruction to meet the unique needs of students with disabilities. You will evaluate and assess student progress against instructional objectives, follow State-mandated due process procedures, and function as the IEP Manager for assigned students.
Responsibilities:
- Provide research-based specialized instruction aligned with each student’s Individualized Educational Program (IEP).
- Assess student progress and adjust instructional techniques as needed.
- Utilize various teaching methods and principles of learning to help students achieve their IEP goals.
- Develop and implement annual IEP plans, including present levels of educational performance, special education needs, instructional goals, and related services.
- Collaborate with team members to set instructional goals and strategies.
- Coordinate the delivery of special education services within each student’s IEP.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in education from an accredited institution, with a focus on special education.
- Valid Tennessee teaching license with K-12 Special Education Endorsement OR proof of enrollment in a job-embedded Educator Preparation Program
- Thorough understanding of special education principles, practices, and procedures.
- Familiarity with effective teaching methodologies for students with disabilities.
- Strong communication skills for oral presentations and written reports.
